Full description

We could only begin our visit in the wonderful Piazza dei Miracoli, whose monuments have enchanted thousands of visitors over the centuries to this day.

We will discover the history and anecdotes of the construction of the iconic Leaning Tower, the Baptistery and the Cathedral, and together we will immerse ourselves in the past when Pisa was one of the most influential cities in the entire Mediterranean Sea.

And we will not stop here, in fact our intention is to get to know the city beyond the Tower! But before continuing our tour, we cannot miss a Pisan-style breakfast in one of the traditional pastry shops. (in some days of the year the breakfast will be substitute with artisan gelato)

Coffee, cappuccino with pastries and we are ready to continue our visit to Pisa’s characteristic medieval quarter, which surprises us at every corner with its alleys, architecture and squares, such as the spectacular Piazza dei Cavalieri, seat of one of the best universities in the world.

From the medieval district we arrive in the so-called Lungarno area, probably the most fascinating and elegant area of the city.

The river is overlooked by palaces and churches with their centuries-old histories, and from the bridges that cross it we can enjoy suggestive views that cannot be forgotten.

Here we conclude the visit in perfect Italian style, with a sandwich and a glass of wine in a typical Vinaio. Salute!

Mary - July 16 2019:

I was impressed by her depth of knowledge and her acquaintance with local history and many stories of old buildings we saw. She answered our many questions. Clearly, she knows many local business people in Pisa and uses that knowledge to select high quality local and regional speciality food and drinks for us to sample.

Sarah - June 08 2020:

Sara was awesome! I did this tour post COVID and it did not take away from the experience. I was able to experience all the history and beauty of Pisa without the lines and Sara was great at bringing the history to life. Definitely worth doing!

Kysa - September 08 2019:

Friendly host, 2nd stop on the tour for bites was really good, tried sometime different for local food and the service was great.

Aubrey - July 15 2019:

Chiara was very insightful and a wonderful guide. She showed us many things about Pisa we would have otherwise walked right by. We sampled some sweets for breakfast in Italian fashion, and later on tried the pizza unique to Pisa. We finished our tour at the leaning tower to explore on our own. We had a great time!

Sarah - October 06 2019:

The Tour is perfect, storytelling ideal for both Kids and parents, lenghts is good and Federica makes it in a very funny way. Thank you!

Sophia - August 21 2020:

This was a fun way to see Pisa! There is so much more to see than just the leaning tower! I recommend this walking tour as an add on to your visit to Pisa!

Jodi - June 27 2020:

For our first time in Pisa, we wanted to feel connected to the city through history and seeing more than just popular sites. Sara was very kind and informative. The best part was her patience and willingness to go at a pace that worked for us (since we have three young children). She incorporated a place to eat that the kids would enjoy, gelato to refresh us in the heat and restroom breaks as needed. It was perfect for our family and Im glad we had Sara as our guide.

Bryan - July 28 2019:

Chiara was pleasant and good company. She was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. She introduced us to some of the traditional food treats of Pisa, while leading us on an exploration of some of the local food and its background. She was very knowledgeable about the often delightful, eclectic architecture of Pisa. We did our tour during a heatwave, but her insider information made us almost forget the temperature. We recommend her most highly.

Nele - July 24 2019:

Absoluut de moeite als je meer wil weten over Pisa, en niet enkel de toren wil zien! De gids brengt je langs twee locale eetgelegenheden die echt de moeite zijn. Leuke ervaring! -- Translation in English -- Definitely worth it if you want to know more about Pisa, and not just see the tower! The guide will take you to two local eateries that are really worthwhile. Nice experience!

Meka - June 02 2019:

Amazing tour. Marta was very knowledgeable about Pisa and the history behind the city. It was great walking through the city with Marta stopping to point out little things you wouldn’t notice on my own. Pisa has a deep rich history and this tour with the aid of these knowledgeable guides help you to discover it.

Tim - June 24 2019:

The guide was very informative and Ill talk I had a real passion for learning and history of Pissa. She went out of her way to make sure we were all informed and showed us that pizza is not just a leaning tower ciao bella

Anthony - June 12 2019:

Dont believe that the tower is the only thing to see in Pisa. Its certainly no Rome or Florence, but if youre going to go to Pisa, there are some great insights to learn, awesome local food to taste and wonderful places to visit - as well as the tower. Chiara was a great tour guide with some awesome local knowledge and took us to some great tourist spots and local eateries. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Pisa with 2 & half hrs or so to spare.

Abhideep - June 07 2019:

Ah Martha where should i start . You made us realise that Pisa is more than just the leaning tower . It has got so much culture and history . Leaning tower was spectacular. The time flew by and we wanted more. I cant begin to describe the sumptuous feast that you treated us with , it got our tongues tingling . By the end of the tour we were so full !! How can i forget the chickpea pie you introduced us to . That i am pretty sure would not have been easy to recognise had it not been for you. Your enthusiasm was unmatched . Thank you so very much . We had an awesome time .

Siew-Wan - June 26 2019:

There is more to Pisa than I expected. Pisas history came to live and I did not realise its importance. The Leaning Tower of Pisa is really worth the visit. It is so beautiful architecturally. Thank you for a wonderful insight into Pisa

Peggy And Mike - June 18 2019:

We flew into Pisa at a time that wasn’t within the window of the regular tour times. Her description said to ask if they didn’t have a time available, and so we did. Chiara delivered. The whole experience was first-rate, from the initial communication to the end. We felt like insiders because we weren’t on the tour with all the flag-waving guides from the cruise ships. We visited local stores for delicious food as part of the experience and also got a unique tour because we were the only ones on it. It’s more expensive to do a private tour but it suited our needs perfectly. Even if you don’t do a private tour, book the regular one because you will see Pisa in a way most tour groups don’t. You’ll visit local shops off the beaten path and learn so much more.

Jack - May 28 2019:

Chiara’s tour is an excellent way to get a grounding in Pisa’s history and culture. Of course we all know the Leaning Tower, but how much more fascinating is the rest of the extensive story of this special town!—Chiara will make it clear to you via the sights she’ll point out along the way to said tower, also stopping at a couple of special “bites” during your walk. Very pleasant guide, really good value, strongly recommended.
